Keats ◊ 2019-03-22 05:25	Story behind the Top Gear usage - the clip was lifted by the "Top Gear" producers from the YouTube channel of a mate of mine (who'd transferred it from a 16mm film print he had), and used on the show. A while later, his YT upload gets a copyright strike from the BBC, claiming that HE lifted the clip from THEM! At which point he went slightly feral. I suggested that he respond to the strike, asking the BBC a) just what made it think it owned any rights to an Australian TV commercial that it didn't actually produce, and b) how it could be that he'd lifted the clip from the "Top Gear" episode and uploaded it to YT several years before it actually appeared on the "Top Gear" episode - TARDIS, perhaps? He ended up doing an interview on a major local radio network, which contacted the BBC for comment. Magically, the copyright strike disappeared within hours...
