Assuming that the plate is one which was allocated to the car as new, and since the 20/25 ceased production in 1937, this may be more possibly a 25/30, 1936-38 plus several months to build and fit the coachwork. |

Have found references to back up robgeelen2's comment about later rebodying. Seems Ranalah and Coachcraft jointly supplied replacement bodies in the late 1930s to Southern Motor Company and to Jack Compton for fitting on older RRs. Unclear how much overlap there was between these arrangements, whether this rebodying might mean new registrations, and whether Ranalah also supplied primary bodies for new RRs - Coachcraft did a small number of new builds. -- Last edit: 2016-12-03 12:23:54 |

/vehicle.php?id=236456 This picture suggests that the car is a rebodied earlier chassis, and that the number plate is a reregistration when the new body was fitted. So what's the best way to give an ID? "1939 Rolls-Royce 25/30 h.p. Drop Head Coupé" matches the visible evidence and there was some primary build by Coachcraft at least. So is possible, although we strongly suspect it may not be fully accurate. But what useful alternative can we enter? |

Unless the chassis number can be determined there is no way of knowing accurately what it is. From the information in the picture, unless the car is documented on the interweb, that is it without resorting to guesswork, maybe Rob has it in a book, I don't. -- Last edit: 2016-12-04 20:06:24 |
