I wonder if they took the seats out of this one to put in the Impala. |

Could only be a 1981. Those yellow-on-blue 7-digit licence plates were only made in 1980 and 1981; from 1982 onwards they became the plain white ones. In the 70s, the yellow-on-blue plates had just six digits. |

No, those blue plate continued into 1986 as the base CA plate. The white with the golden sun was optional in 1982 thru 1986. For 1987 the white/golden sun plate became the standard plate. In 1988 the boring, plain white plates with blue letters/numbers became the base plate. At some point the letters/numbers changed to red. This same plate design carries on to this day, except the California word is now in cursive script. |

Hm, didn't realize the golden sun plates were optional - my mistake. I'd say those are probably my favorite California plates out of all the ones they made. I was going off the information here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_registration_plates_of_California |

2 different cars: the interior changes color, in the first scene its tan, in the next scene its blue. Though they were built around the same time, the steering wheel seen on the tan interior car indicates '80 or '81, and the logo next to where it says Diplomat on the glove box on the blue interior car was last used in 1981 -- Last edit: 2018-02-14 10:06:02 |
