Belongs to rich kid Sebastian Valmont (Ryan Phillippe), who makes a bet with his stepsister Kathryn Merteuil (Sarah Michelle Gellar) that he can get Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon) to lose her virginity to him. If he succeeds, Kathryn will sleep with him, if he doesn't, Kathryn gets his "1956 Jaguar roadster"

Quote The Car:

This REPLICA Jaguar XK120 was originally built at "Cinema Cars" in Hollywood, California. Soon after being built was moved over to "Picture Car Warehouse" owned by Ted Moser builder of such cars as: the 1969 Yenko Camaro from "2Fast2Furious", 1999 Nissan Skyline from "2Fast2Furious", and 1970 Dodge HEMI Challenger featured in the movie "2Fast2Furious". The G.T.O.'s, 1969 Fastback Mustang and Ford truck as seen in "xXx 2", The Custom Buick Riveras in "Crank", The cars for the movie "Taxi". Ted Moser is one of the most famous Hollywood car builders today. Think of any recent movie you have seen that had any cars in it, those cars probably came from Ted Moser.

This car has been featured in:

(1999) I am sure you can remember this car in "Cruel Intentions"driven by Ryan Phillippe. It was used to portray how the upper half live. "Cruel Intentions" had an all star cast starred Sarah Michelle Geller, Ryan Phillippe, Selma Blair and Reese Witherspoon. The car was repainted black for the filming of this show. The actual plot of the show revolves around the Jaguar, a bet is placed and if Sebastian succeeds, Kathryn must give him a night of unbridled pleasure, something`s he`s wanted since their parents got married. If he fails, he must forfeit his priceless 1956 Jaguar to Kathryn and suffer the shame of defeat.

The Jag replica on the below page is misidentified.

I understand it is a replica, but it is of an XK 140, not a 120. Note the LARGE bumpers, compared to a 120. The grill is different, too, as is rear trim down the trunk (not on a 120), tail lights, trunk lid, etc.

I've not seen the film (I understand it is a teenie-bopper version of Dangerous Liaisons), but in the comments it is referred to as "...his priceless 1956 Jaguar ..."
I won't get into the "priceless" part, but the 120 was discontinued in 1954.

No offence intended, but your sight was used as a reference during a discussion recently. I was surprised (disappointed) that someone else hadn't picked up on it.

Could this be the same car (the builder is) as in Money Talks? The members picked up on that one.

Happy Motoring!

Dsl, even though this is an American-made replica that's probably never been to the UK, is the front numberplate (HYH752) a genuine combination?

The rear plate is a New York licence plate, BND192.

HYH xxx was a genuine London series Jan-Oct 47, so a year too early for even XK120 (and much too early for a MkI as a potential donor). Possibly a 1947 number as cherished transfer to a later Jag which then became a donor, but no means of pursuing what HYH 752 started as or where it went.

BTW, the NYS plate is fake.
