Is this a 74 or a 76? This clip is from the 3rd season 2-part premiere "Angels In Vegas." |

With that shiny chrome bumper insert, I would say either 1974 or 1975. |

That's true. Thanks! |

That is most likely a '75. The chrome trim is early cars, but the '74 had the gas filler lower down below the body line |

But what about the louvers, the hood scoop and the rear spoiler? Aren't those form a Cobra II? and remember, the Cobra II wasn't available until 1976 -- Last edit: 2010-09-26 08:46:30 |

I believe it is possible the bright bumper border may have been carried over to early 1976 models. By mid year, all had black rubber borders with white accent stripes above and below. ALL '77 and '78 models had the rubber bumper, I am certain. |

Gas cap relocated at 1975 model year also. |

Rumor has it that this was one of the Cobra II's, repainted of course, used in this scene……. As it is commonly known, tv shows frequently had more than one vehicle that they used, certain ones were called "glamour shot" models which were used for close ups, which frequently had all the "bells & whistles" (meaning highly optioned versions), and they also had "stunt models" that they used for, just like they're called, "stunts." Well, like I said, rumor has it, that this vehicle was one of the "stunt models" that had been used throughout the series that was at this point in the series ready for the boneyard (having lots of bon dough, etc from numerous stunts having been performed - you have to remember they frequently use cars on different shows as well as the show of which it is assigned regularly). Since this one was ready for the junkyard, they went ahead an used it, repainted, for this scene. This was also done with one of the "stunt model" Pintos….. In season 4, their is a repainted (yellow) Pinto that gets crushed by a bunch of falling cinder blocks while Tiffany barely makes her escape from it. One of the dead give aways was if you look really close in the scene, you can see an attempt was made to cheaply (Spelling/Goldberg was VERY frugal with money obviously) 're-do' the interior in blue by using seat covers. However, if you look quickly, when someone gets out the back seat, you can see the orange interior is still present on the back of the bucket seat when it is placed in the forward position to allow access to the backseat. |
