This Toronado is still alive! and is currently undergoing restoration at GIS Automotive in Glenshaw PA(http://www.gisautomotive.com/) , I hope the owner doesn't mind(same person that the car was rented from for the movie) but I'll post some pictures after completion. |

I originally painted this car black for the film group that supported the movie Dark Half. This car was originally light blue metallic. The owner of the car didnt want to pay enough to have the door jams painted so they were left blue. I also installed air shocks on the rear of this car even though it was front wheel drive. The movie script described this car as jacked up in the rear. It was cool to see some of my work on the big screen. ( I also did work on the police cars and ambulances in the movie "Silence of the Lambs". |

As the owner of the Toronado, I wanted to thank everyone for the very nice comments. Just to set the record straight, the movie company made the decision not to paint the door jambs black. This was probably due to the fact that part of the deal was that they were supposed to have the car painted back to it's original color when they were done using it. when they did bring the car back, I thought the black color was very nice so, a couple of years later had the whole body redone (by GIS). When I save up enough sheckles, I plan to have the rest of it restored. The car has been in the family since 1966. My uncle was the original owner. He bought the car from a Houston, Texas dealership in late '65 or early '66. the car was actually for my grandmother to use and she drove it to and from the grocery store for nearly 20 years. I guess you could say that the car was driven by a little old lady. |

What's the story on why only the right side tail lights work when the camera reveals the writing on the back of the car? |

turn signal on ? or some light bulb defect ? ( like what we see sometimes, when they got lights on everything works but when they apply brake only one side gets brighter ) or fuse maybe ? -- Last edit: 2020-04-13 05:50:18 |

So cool to see this bad boy in that classic SK flick. I have a killer 66' TORO (beautiful lucerne blue) and was actually thinking of painting this bad boy black. I probably won't but the black color (interior is all black) would look hellafied... Bill |
