This is a ca 1924/5 Elcar model 14 taxicab.It was made by the Elkhart Carriage and Harness Manufacturing Company of Elkhart ,Indiana.Their taxicabs used a 4 cylinder Lycoming engine of 46 horsepower and existed in closed or landaulet versions.They had disk wheels and right hand drive and the beltline was lower above the doors.Normally produced without headlights for day service this one has headlights mounted on the cowl.Altough Elcar automobiles were produced up till 1931 it is the first of this make identified on the site |

Funny that it´s made in the mid 20s. The episode in the film where it mainly appeares is set immediately after WWI, ca 1919. |
