Rover 3.5 Litre Coupe (P5B) - 3 Stars (numberplate belongs to 1972 3500 which would make it a P6 which this clearly isn't)

There is a blank in the page for a 1972 Rover 3500 [P5] *** Ep. 2.02; but in this episode 'dragonboy' says this 3*** is for a P5B not a P5.

There are a few errors here ........ Only the Rover P5 (3 litre, straight six) had mark numbers (Mark 1s were saloons only, the Mark II and IIIs included the coupe). When the straight 6 was replaced with the Buick derived V8 the car was renamed the P5B and remained as that until discontinued, the only changes made during the P5B's production run were minor - an automatic enrichment device replacing the manual choke etc, so there were no official marks. I'd also debate whether the car pictured is green as described by TheHeartbreakKid15 (though it might originally have been) - from the picture and my recollection of the item on Top Gear it is an admiralty blue car with a silver birch roof.

Some years ago there was an advert for T-Mobile, where such a Rover was involved.

A cute girl got a call from her boy-friend:
"It's over now!"
"You are telling me this by phone?"
"Yep"
"Okay. I suggest, you will keep the car. You love it so much."
"That's fine!"

Then you see the Rover falling from a cliff and smashing on the rocks.

From the outtakes on the Top Gear: Revved Up DVD, Hammond and Clarkson keep laughing while trying to say these really cheesy lines about how "cosy" the car feels ("It's the embodiment of a nice cup of tea in front of a roaring log fire" "It's a steaming hot bowl of soup")

Great clip, Ingo. Look at the size of that mobile phone! Larger than the proverbial brick.

I think the car falling over the cliff is a 3 litre saloon rather than a 3.5 coupe. The V8 cars have "Rostyle" wheels rather than plain discs. So not that much of a loss...I'd much rather have the girl in those circumstances!
