In Canada in 1990 this would be a Chevrolet Tracker, because the Geo name didn't appear in Canada until 1992. This same car was also sold in Canada as the GMC Tracker, and then later as the Asüna Sunrunner and then the Pontiac Sunrunner. Isn't badge engineering fun? To summarize, in Canada: 1989-1991: Chevrolet Tracker and GMC Tracker 1992+: Geo Tracker 1992-1994: Asüna Sunrunner 1995+: Pontiac Sunrunner There was also the Suzuki Sidekick, but tonkatracker has eliminated that based on the taillights. |

I didn't realize that this was filmed in Canada. This is what I absolutly know based on this picture: This is one of GM's vehicles based on the Suzuki, All red Taillights plus the mouldings and bumper covers The year range is 1990-1993, 1990 was the first year for the tailgate lock on GM and no CHMSL means pre 1994 It is not a GMC Tracker nor a Pontiac Sunrunner. (GMC's had either "GMC" or "4x4" in red letters on the rear wheel center caps) The Decals appear to have been removed from the rear bumper and/or quarter panel That leaves us with 1990-1991 Chevrolet Tracker, 1992-1993 Geo Tracker or 1992-1993 Asüna Sunrunner. The only way to tell would be if someone could make out the rear wheel center cap which would be different on each model, The Chevrolet would have a bowtie, the Sunrunner would have "Asüna" and the Geo would say "Geo", Honestly to me it apears that this is an Asüna Sunrunner here are some of the caps in my collection, based on these I think it could be a Geo or Asüna as both of these had gold text on the wheel center cap. -- Last edit: 2009-11-06 18:30:58 |

And just for the fun of having one more Asüna we could pick that name too |

Well after watching this episode and going frame-by-frame a million times I can tell you that this is not a Sunrunner, which is a bummer because I wish we could have one on the site. This has the block-style "TRACKER" emblem on the door, which was only used very briefly. Based on this emblem this is either 1991 CDN-Spec Chevrolet Tracker or 1991 CDN-Spec GMC Tracker. I my previous post I made a comment about the rear wheel center cap and I really wish it was clearer as it would tell us what it is. This is a 2WD Truck as all Trackers had red "4X4" on the rear center cap regardless of make. Chevrolets had a gold bowtie, I would assume the GMC would have the text GMC in red but I am not sure as this is the only center cap that I have not seen (the brochures only show 4x4 Trackers in them) it would have been a lot easier if someone hadn't removed the make decal from the rear bumper. and just a minor correction to CougarTims previous post: In Canada: 1989-1991 and 1998-04 Chevrolet Tracker 1989-1991 GMC Tracker 1992-1997 Geo Tracker 1992-1993 Asüna Sunrunner 1994-1997 Pontiac Sunrunner -- Last edit: 2009-11-06 18:06:49 |
