They probably used a hollow replica for when the trolley crushes the car, but I imagine a real Ferrari was used for the chases, this is a big budget Bruckheimer blockbuster. |

they used a real f355 in the chase shots and a replica based upon a pontiac fiero when it gets destroyed(in fact the replica that gets destroyed is the one sold by www.coolcustomcars.com) |

jerry bruckheimer and michael bay would never use a fake ferrari in there movies, this pair are good freinds with ferrari. |

That was a Ferrari F355 Spider shell destroyed. It was completely real. |

Check out the way the body flexes when the tram lands on it!,an aluminium body shell wouldn't flap like that, definately a replica. |

Nah it is just that at the end the car was a replica. |

wasserspeiier and carchasefanatic, I should have been more specific. Some parts of this chase scene do use a genuine Ferrari 355 spider (easily spotted when Nicholas Cage climbs into the Ferrari at the start for instance). It is the car that launches through the window and is later crushed by the cable car that is the blatent replica,as reported by Ducati 749s.I apologise for any confusion I may have caused. |

From IMDB Trivia/Goofs: Factual errors: When the tram crushes the Ferrari, the alloy wheels that come apart from the car are not Ferrari alloys (showing this is another mock up car and not a real Ferrari). These mock alloys can also be seen resting on the ground when Goodspeed turns to observe the crushed Ferrari. Continuity: When the Ferrari crashes through the parking meters, the indicator lights on the bumper have disappeared (presumably as this car is a mock up), but in the next shot of the Ferrari from the front, the lights have reappeared. Crew or equipment visible: When the Ferrari finally is destroyed, it appears that it is simply a shell sitting over a chassis. The shell seems to almost jump off the chassis upon impact, indicating that it wasn't bolted in as it should be. Continuity: When Goodspeed gets in the Ferrari and closes the door, you can see that it's the door of the real F-355. Later when the tram destroys the car, the door is that of the stunt vehicle and, understandably, not of the real Ferrari. |

Another goof: Have you ever noticed that when he starts the car, he directly puts the third gear? |
◊ 2015-06-28 15:25 |
You can start a stick shift in third, it's often done when the driver can't drive stick. You just "open" the clutch, put it in third, rev up the engine and jump-close the clutch. It's not good for the car, nor very save, but it gets you going without shifting. |

Driving like that would strip the splines on the clutch plate where the first motion shaft runs into it and cause total lack of drive from the engine to the driven wheels. If the driver is so stupid that he can't understand how a proper car works he should hand in his driving licence. |

Glad it wasn't a real Ferrari. |
