Looks like an old International Harvester S-Series from here. |

1988 Ward Volunteer on an International S-1700 or S-1800 chassis. The bus I rode on my first day to Kindergarten was exactly identical to this bus. By Ward it was actually considered a 1989 model. (Built in 1989 but was using leftover S-Series chassis from the 88 model year, starting 89 model year had the 3700/3800 chassis.) That bus had an International 7.3L V8 engine, Allison AT545 transmission and Hydraulic brakes. This one is probably the same. These buses were junk, they were actually bought a year later than some 89 Wayne's bought '88 but the Wayne's were reited in 2002 while most of the Wards a year earlier in 2001, but #17 was so bad it was retired 1997, also retired in 1997 was a late 70's Wayne/International spare (#9) that was so old it only had red warning lights, thats how much better the Wayne buses were. -- Last edit: 2009-01-13 21:42:17 |
