R4's were actually imported to Japan starting in 1978. Link to "www.losangemagazine.com" Not sure if this one could be one of those - it does not have selective yellow headlights that a French R4 would have if it were imported by a private citizen. |

It does the distinctive big pimple side indicator shown on the linked Tokyo fish market example, but white rather than orange. I'm inclined to believe ours is genuine J sale - it's the fish market car which smells ... um .... fishy as it still has the yellow headlights. Both are LHD, so that is unhelpful. |
