![]() We've identified this vehicle using the details you provided MORRIS MINI COOPER 1966 Registration number: TGF800F Body type: 2 Door Saloon Colour: Yellow Date of first registration: April 2005 Capacity 1275 cm³ Vehicle status Not taxed for on road use 1966 Morris Mini Cooper S 1275 Minisprint. About 100 made 1965-68-ish, initially as a chopped'n'lowered Mini for racing - both for the cabin by reducing the pillars and also removing strips from the bodysides. Some made for road use - it became fashionable amongst the glitterati as an alternative to things like Radfords. Initially made by Neville Trickett and Geoff Thomas (the brains behind Jago Model Ts and Jeeps), then bought by Rob Walker (F1 team owner amongst other things) who sold them from his showroom, including one to Stirling Moss. Then sold on to London Morris dealers Stewart & Arden who made the final 10-12. Later road cars got the rectangular lights, apparently because round lights were too low after the bodyside chop for Construction & Use regulations (although I don't understand why round or rectangular makes a difference??). Most conversions were Cooper S but a handful of lesser Cooper and ordinary Minis and even a Traveller was done. TGF 800F is apparently still with us after a resto a few years ago, but whereabouts and circs unclear. |
