Can someone explain some Cadillacs are called Fleetwood Eldorados and some are just called Eldorados?

I think that all these of the 70s like this one are Fleetwood Eldorado, and so some are misnamed on the site

From what I can tell, 1970 is the last year Mr. Cadillac's site refers to the Fleetwood Eldorado, following years just call it an Eldorado http://www.car-nection.com/yann/Dbas_txt/Phot_ndx.htm

To explain Cadillac nomenclature is a bit difficult, because they changed their habits several times through the years. In 1965, the Eldorado (which started out in 1953 as a special sport convertible) had been moved up into the Fleetwood series, which lasted until 1976, if I recall correctly. Within these years, they were called "Fleetwood Eldorado". Later they dropped the Fleetwood name on these models and it was again just called Eldorado. In 1977/ 78 the Biarritz name reappeared as a trim level, though it once was the designation for the Eldorado convertibles between 1956 and 1964.

They even used names twice sometimes. A good example for that would be the Seville, which at first was the designation for the Eldorado Coupe 1956 - 1960 ("Eldorado Seville"), but reappeared in 1976 for a downsized sedan.

(All written by memory, for I ran out of time for a closer look into the literature at the moment. ;) )
