That's why when I come to add more cars to a film that's been done ages ago, I find there are better moments to use. matt trakker ◊ 2008-05-19 09:22	I can tell there were at least two cars used in the movie- In one scene where Raoul Duke is trying to leave the hotel, and in the police chase, you can see that the car has white 73-74 interior door panels, where in other shots the car has the correct 71-72 style panels. They probably fixed up Hunter's actual Impala for the movie and then built a secondary car from whatever parts they could find.

I just finished the book...the Impala was abused, but the Cadillac was the one outright destroyed in the book. It was driven into Lake Mead, jumped across a highway median and through a fence, drove at over 100 mph down an airport runway, and had it's tires inflated to 75 psi (as an "experiment") among other misadventures.
