The GMC's of this era were all called "Blue Chip". But I'm not sure which version. They are all listed on pages 23-26:

Doesn't look to have the fender "extensions" between the parking lamps and the bumper, which would make it a '56.

Tandem rear axle (6 wheel) conventional cab in 1956 would be W-(500A/500V/550A/630A/660A/670A) or MW-(500A/500V/550A/630A/660A) if gasoline, or DW660/DW950/DMW950/DW970 if diesel. 'M' models were distinguished by the Hydra-matic transmission; 'A' at the end indicates air brakes.
