The name is written 'Gilbern'. The Gilbern cars were produced in Llantwit Fardre, Pontypridd (a place I happen to know very well) in South Wales. It is one of the few Welsh car makes. This one should be the Mk.2 version (1970-72). |

I don't know who set the date to 1972 without a comment. 'K'-registration is of course 1971/72 and this Gilbern [BKL845K] was first registered on November 3rd, 1971 (according to DVLA). |

nov.1971 usually means 1972 model, but maybe that make is not referred with that model-year system? |

The model year only applies if changes were made, i.e. the cars differ from one year to the next. The date of first registration is not telling us when a car was actually built. We use it as a guideline only if no better information is available. If for UK registered cars only the prefix or suffix letter gives a timespan we always use the first year. If none of this applies the first model year is being taken. The Gilbern Invader Mk.II was available from 1970-72, complete or as kit-car. The exact date of production will be difficult to determine unless we find the complete chassis number. |

No it doesn't, if that was true that means every car that was built in the latter end of the year would be for the next year. It means it's a late model year from the same year. |

Later Mk2 bonnet with "rear-facing vent"; a small number of early Mk2 had the "front-facing vent" carried over from Mk1 and previous Genie (so overall it's far more common). |
