I think it's a pale blue '64 De Ville convertible, but I'd need to see a still image to confirm.

And I got some info from the web that the car is a '62 model... To be confirmed... More info later...

I just bought it today. I will have it within 40 days, but I confirm it's a 1964 Coupe De Ville Convertible. Has been modified (I don't know who, but not the previous owner) and has a 375 ci 1968 motor (380 HP). I will send pictures when I have it. :-))

I've always wondered what exact year Tubbs' Caddy Convt. was but could never quite tell. I knew it was not a '62, but I figured it had to either be a '63 or a '64. A '62 looks different and so does a '65. I recently got a automobile book that covers every American car made from 1960-1969. After studying the pics and info I would have to agree that Tubbs' Cadillac is a 1964 model--mostly because of the style of the front grill. A '63 model has a slightly "flatter" grill, while the '64 comes together and points out in the middle more...just like Tubbs' car. However, I'm NOT sure it was a de Ville style. In my book it does not mention de Ville that year. There were Fleetwoods and Eldorados. There were de Villes listed in other years, but not 1964. The Eldorado is the Convertible that looks the most like Tubbs' car. Also, the only Caddy model that year to offer the fender skirts, as seen on Tubbs' car, was the '64 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible. Therefore, I have to assume that with the style of front grill and fender skirts, Tubbs' car on "Miami Vice" was an Ocean Blue 1964 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible.

The main styling difference between a '64 DeVille and a '64 Eldorado is the rear wheel arches. The DeVille has spats (or "skirts", depending what country you come from) covering the rear wheels, while the Eldorado has fixed wheel arches.

Also the difference between '63 and '64, like Hunterman said, is the grill and also the '63 has slightly taller fins and smaller rear tail lights.

I have a Turino Turquoise '64 DeVille Convertible, and I think the colour is pretty close to Tubbs' Caddy but it may also be Firemist Blue. It's hard to tell on TV.

Here's a pic of my Caddy:

RXO64,

That's an awesome Caddy...I'm jealous! LOL! I was wrong with my earlier post above (back in December)! Tubbs' Caddy was a 1964 Coupe Deville Convertible!! There is definite differences between the tail lights and grill on the 1963 and 1964 Cadillacs. I think the color is almost exact, RX064! Like you said, on TV it's hard to tell...but it looks darn close enough!

The Eldorado also has the name "Eldorado" in small chrome letters spelled out on the fenders of the front wheels. Tubbs' Caddy did not have that...but did have (in fancy cursive) "DeVille" spelled out on the back tailfins.

It has been brouth from Bahamas (where the last episode was shooted) to Belgium by the previous owner

Hello, I'm new here and I need help finding an info about Rico's Caddy ...

My name's Jeff, I'm from Quebec, Canada and I'm a big 1/18 scale diecast collector. I got 425 models and about a year ago, I started making customs of movie cars that are not made in 1/18.

Up to date, I made the "Italian Job" Mini trio from the remake movie, the "Nash Bridges" Hemi Cuda & I just finished "Magnum P.I." Ferrari 308.

I got a few project on the table such as...

- "Christine" 1968 blue Charger to go aside of Christine herself,
- "Ghostbusters" ECTO-1 '59 Caddy (ERTL already made it but in 1/21 scale, gonna make it the right scale),
- "Miami Vice" Ferrari Daytona Spyder & Testarossa ...

But my next one will be Ricardo Tubbs Cadillac ... I almost got everything to start the project except for one little detail ... THE FRONT LICENSE PLATE that I need to replicate ... but what is that plate??? I'm trying to find info & pictures on it on the web ... NADA ... does anyone knows what it is???

I can read "COWBOY (?something?) CADILLAC" ... any hint, or pictures that you could have at home of it? Maybe someone has that plate nailed on his garage wall?

That would be very helpful ... thanks!

The car is nicknamed the "Cowboy Cadillac," and that's what it says on the front tag. If I'm not mistaken, the red part next to "Cadillac" is a picture of a red cartoon Cadillac.

I'm not sure Cuda Jeff, but please post pictures of the cars!

Hello again ... I totally forgot about this forum ... sorry guys!

Yeah that's what I thought about the front "Cowboy Cadillac" plate ... a red cartoon Caddy! Does anyone has good red cartoon Caddys in his computer, that he can send me to my email please?

To Marioman3138 ...

I would love to post pictures of my "movie cars" customs. Like I said, as we speak, I made ...

- the "Italian Job" Mini trio from the remake movie,
- the "Nash Bridges" Hemi Cuda ,
- the "Magnum P.I." Ferrari 308,
- ... and I just finished the "Christine" 1968 blue Charger ...

... but how does it work here to post pictures? Does Photobucket links work here? Thanks

or geting.se or fotosik.pl
You can put photobucket links if you prefer, but not post big pictures directly in the page (I do not know if photobucket provides clickable thumbnails like these other sites)

Well as my pictures are on Photobucket's website already but they do provide thumnails link ... or ...

Is it possible to put links of another forum here (a diecast collectors forum)?

Because all the pictures of the models, with their own "making of" are already there.

I would only have to link you guys to it ... one link for each of my customs ... except for the CHRISTINE Charger, because I finished her 2 days ago, I took the pictures yesterday but I didn't have time to edit them yet. I'm planning to do them this weekend.

Ok guys ... here's the links to my customs movie car (The Nash Brigdes is a custom but it was made by Custom Diecast Replicas, I didn't make it, but it gave me the kick I needed to start making my own...)

- Miami Vice Rico's Cadillac

BTW: SO??? Does anyone has good red cartoon Caddys in his computer, that I can use for the front license plate? You can send them to me at this email: jeff_gazelle@msn.com

Since it doesn't seem like the image is available anywhere on the net, I tried to replicate it as good as I could, because I need one to go on my future diecast custom project ...

So if anyone's needs it ... feel free ...

Hi Ron !
Don't know if you still have your car, but, a Miami Vice Convention will takes place in Paris in september 2012. MV fans would be really very happy to see the real Tubbs' car... so if you are interested, just contact me. I will give you the organization contact !

FYI, there were at least two '64s used as Tubbs' car. Ron, it looks as if you have the variant with the padded dash and black steering wheel. The thumb from 3.07 shows the other car - note the white steering wheel.

The similarities end at the same type and model of vehicle; the MV cars and the 48 hour cars have no relation.

Beautiful car! But, if this really is an actual Caddy used in "Miami Vice" it does look as if its been repainted again since its "MV" days. There were at least 2, if not 3, Caddys used in the show. There was an aqua-green colored one (much like your car, Ron) with a white steering wheel. Then there was a more gray-blue colored one with a black steering wheel...and possibly black padded dash board. There possibly might have also been an aqua-green colored one also with a black steering wheel. If this really is one of the "MV" Caddys...then maybe it's that one?? I'd kill (figuratively speaking of course ;) ) to have this car!!
