'GH 2362' is correct for a July 1930 registration.
The DVLA indicates it was colour blue, manufactured in 1930 which looks correct for a 'High Lot' taxi Vehicle. (Although the DVLA data indicates re-registering in 1989 after the movie was made possibly after restoration).

It was found about 20 years ago in Edmonton, Canada, in a museum and in a very sorry state. During restoration it was discovered that the GH2362 plate was the oldest known London taxi still in running order."

Also here in 'Random Harvest' MGM movie released in 1942 /vehicle_742694-Austin-12-4-Taxi-1930.html

This probably indicates the taxi was already in the USA prior to American GIs being deployed to the UK in mid-late 1942?

It would be interesting to find more movies with this actual car...

I would imagine that it was imported by MGM to use in films set in the UK and someone made up the G.I. story because it was the only explanation they could think of for a London taxi coming to the USA.

Presumably it appears in other MGM films with UK settings filmed at the studio from the 1930s to the 1950s. However, it doesn't seem to be in Mrs. Miniver (also made by MGM in 1942 and set in London).
