Fake DDR filmed in BRD. Made for D (shared until 1973 with East Germany) necessary here as it was pretty rare in West Germany. Wartburg had its BRD premiere at the Frankfurt Auto Salon in 1959, to which the cars were transported in specially-built railroad cars. Ten years later, the VEBs pulled out of the West due to poor sales.

A Trabi cost only 3680 DM, which was a price so low it prompted the West German marketers to promote it with "Two of these cars can be bought for the price of one big station wagon!"
