Doesn't one get crushed? |

The engine was removed when this car was crushed. Hence, you can see the other end of the car is heavier than the front. |

They pulled a switcheroo on us. A 1964 drives up to the crusher, but the camera cuts away and when the crane grabs it, it has magically transformed into a (cheaper) 1963. |

1963 Continentals have a horizontal chrome across the centre of the grille, right? Otherwise they do look very similar, to me anyway. -- Last edit: 2008-03-05 17:04:17 |

The Lincoln that Oddjob is driving is a 1964. The one that goes into the scrap machine is an engineless 1963. |

JFK's custom, stretched '61 Continental Convertible Limo which LBJ also used as well as the '62, '63 & '64 Continentals have the big block 430 ci MEL (Mercury, Edsel, Lincoln) 4 barrel V8. |

The big joke here was how 4500 lbs of solid steel rode home in the back of a Ford Ranchero (Falcon chassis). Hm. |

Apparently - or so I've heard - the rear suspension of the Ranchero failed under the weight during the first take. There was a mad scramble to the dealer for parts, while the crew cut the crushed cube down for the second take. -Kurt -- Last edit: 2012-02-27 22:41:52 |

Apparently the entire crew was silent at destroying a brand new car. |

It's such a nice car. It's a shame they destroyed it. |
