The scene here at the beginning of the movie is depicting a real historical event, Peristiwa Cikini (30 November 1957). Some men throws a grenade at Ir. Soekarno's motorcade while he was on the way to attend a bazaar in Cikini College where his son & daughter studied. As the name suggests, it happened at Cikini street, a busy road in Jakarta. This pitiful event killed 3 civillians & injured more than 100 of them. In the movie, Soekarno is chauffeured in an 1951-1953 Opel Kapitan, but in the event that occured that time, Soekarno is chauffeured in a 1955 Chrysler Crown Imperial (now seen bearing a B 9105 plate) that was given by the king of Saudi Arabia, Saud bin Abdul Aziz when he visits the country to do pilgrimage/umrah there. The car now sits in the Joang 45 Museum at Menteng, it still had the scars from that fateful event in 1957. The car: ![]() |

Seen on other scenes: Forgot to mention: Ir. Soekarno is the first Indonesian president, serving from 1945 to 1967. He was the leader of the Indonesian struggle for independence from the Dutch colonialists. This movie depicts the the last two decades of his rule. The political tension all those years, especially the Ganyang Malaysia movement that made Indonesia overcome an abysmal rate of inflation & the climax is the 30th September Movement (Coup) lead by PKI, the party that he supports. He was later toppled and replaced by Soeharto who ruled Indonesia longer than him for 32 years. |
