HME 1871, decal visible right by the drivers side mirror. Definitely a rented apparatus. The only HMEs the FDNY ever bought were 1996s for their 5 rescue companies, all but 1 (R4) were retired as casualties from 9/11. Of the 5, 2 survived - Rescue 4 (which was repaired and went back into service until 2011) and Rescue 5, which was restored and to my knowledge, owned by either current or former members of Rescue 5. That’s also not getting into the company number much larger than typical FDNY apparatus. |
