Loveley goofy details on the thumbnails. Tried to be set in Western Germany - but at least everything was failed (camping-trailers, their stickers, truck-trailer, truck-/tank-storage, fence of the entry, signs painted o nthe road, the water-pipe on the streets etc. etc.... -- Last edit: 2008-10-10 22:01:51 |

The car is a 1974 Malibu sedan |

They are all 1974 Chevrolet Chevelle due to the taillights and the grille. |

Maybe because this is on a US Air Force base... |

No, I mean the details outside of the "base". -- Last edit: 2015-08-13 18:25:34 |

I guess the rationale is that regardless of model year, the paint scheme would be updated to the current design on the entire fleet. I'm sure the film production company never had any concept of the Internet and how it enables car-detailed obsessed people like ourselves to watch frame by frame to detect inaccuracies. These days, they must be scrupulous rather than "this will do" in decorating locations and getting film props for big budget movies. I'm thinking the Plymouth Volare in Air Force Police livery would be more accurate. I remember someone in the Air Force tearing apart all sorts of aspects of this scene while critiquing the accuracy. One was how the guard would never shoot warning shots into the air, nor allow the police motorcyclists on to the base. But hell, back in 1983, it made for great entertainment, and the ability to watch repeatedly on video (then later DVD and streaming) was not widely available then, so most of it all went unnoticed for those few seconds. I am sure some people caught it, but news didn't spread like wildfire as in the time of the Internet. Nevertheless, great comment! |
