45 was the first model. Actually in the very early years they where known as Zastava Jugo (yes - J, not Y) 45.

Quote Malcolm Bricklin, he of the Bricklin SV1, wouldn't be satisfied until he had forced every American to walk to work.

To that end, in 1985, he began importing the Yugo GV, which turned out to be the Mona Lisa of bad cars. Built in Soviet-bloc Yugoslavia, the Yugo had the distinct feeling of something assembled at gunpoint. Interestingly, in a car where "carpet" was listed as a standard feature, the Yugo had a rear-window defroster — reportedly to keep your hands warm while you pushed it. The engines went ka-blooey, the electrical system — such as it was — would sizzle, and things would just fall off. Yugo. Or not.

Where are the body differnces which say that it is not the early car - the Zastava Jugo?

First articles in which Yugo is the make are from 1986:

Between 1983 and 1986 the make has been changed (in the same period side mirror has changed its shape a bit, though hard to tell if it was somehow connected)).

The GV name was only used in the US (apparently it was short for "Good Value"). And please read previous comments before writing your own - people who know more about Yugos than you do have tried and failed to pin down the exact model. :)

This is not Yugo from 1985, it's from 1988-1991.
