The studio wasn't sure if "The Godfather" was going to be a hit, but he made them promise him that if it was, they'd buy him any car he wanted. So he said "I want the big Mercedes limo, like the pope has!" And he got it.

This car belongs (belonged?) to Francis Ford Coppola, who directed the movie. The studio wasn't sure if "The Godfather" was going to be a hit, but he made them promise him that if it was, they'd buy him any car he wanted. So he said "I want the big Mercedes limo, like the pope has!" And he got it.
