The Speed 20 was introduced in 1932, types SA and SB having a 2511cc engine. Types SC, (1935) and SD (1936) had the 2762cc engine, 6 off 73x110mm cylinders, the extra capacity being achieved by lengthening the stroke by 10mm to 110mm, thus avoiding an change in fiscal horsepower, still 19.82. 289 SC Speed 20s were built, there are about 70 survivors. Tourer bodies were produced mainly by Cross and Ellis and VdP. The registration details say April 1935, confirming that it is most likely a Speed 20 type SC. Coachwork does not completely resemble either named firm, I shall ask the owners Club what it might be. The Speed 25 was introduced in October 1935, 3571cc 83x110mm engine. -- Last edit: 2023-04-14 09:12:10 |
