I thought the Ford oval (vs. the written F O R D) was first used on US models in 1983? This nose was used thru 1986 on the full-size Bronco. -- Last edit: 2006-10-11 00:45:44 |

Unique generation of Bronco, in that they first offered dual front and rear limited-slip differentials. The differentials were marketed under the name Traction-Lok, and used simple clutch discs (up to four) to directly limit wheel slip (spin), and to directly transfer torque. Drawbacks of the Traction-Lok differentials is that they cannot lockup 100 percent, and thus only transfer a small amount of torque to the wheel (or wheels) with the best grip. The simple clutch discs also wear over time, gradually loosing their ability to transfer torque. About 50,000 miles is average for clutch life expectancy, after that, they will no longer be able to transfer torque, and the differential will function the same as an open differential. -- Last edit: 2012-12-04 01:33:22 |

Yes, I have to agree. I think that the listing has not been changed to reflect this. As the film was shot in 1984, I'd think this was an '84 or '85 possibly provided by Ford considering there has been a long history of product placement by Ford in the Bond series since Goldfinger. Bond has the '84 or '85 LTD (presumably a rental), General Gogol is driving around the San Francisco area in a similar year Thunderbird. Because not all the primary vehicles are Ford, and there is no credit acknowledging Ford participation in the film (unlike Renault), its possible there was no Ford connection, but that is all a tangent and conjecture. Back to the original comment, I'd agree that this is more likely a post-'83 model. |

Blue oval debuted in 1982 for the F-Series Trucks and Bronco. I was curious and just researched this now before reading dhill cb7's post, and the pictures I see of the '82 are the blue Ford oval in the grille. But my question is this really an '82? Sure, it possibly, but Ford has often supplied vehicles (although no explicit mention in this film), and as there is a contemporary LTD, Gogol's T-Bird, and this, I thought that they could get something newer than an '82. |
