Or just a taxi coming from outside the city? |

It's a movie guys. It was probably cheaper for the production to get an old Caprice. Most people wouldn't notice/care anyways ![]() |

Isn't it possible some there are still some early-90s Caprices being used as taxis in New York? Perhaps someone from NY could tell us. |

IIRC, there's an age limit of five years for New York city taxis. |

Right, due to this regulation there are no more Caprices left as official "NYC taxis". However as antp suggested, it could be a taxi from just outside the city (most likely Newark, New Jersey). When I visited New York a few months ago, I saw many old Caprice taxis just like this from outside of the city. Although, with the exception of the Newark, New Jersey taxis, most of them were not yellow like this one. Plus the shade of yellow that Newark uses is different from the shade of yellow NYC uses. This paticular cab has the NYC shade, which leads me to the conclusion that this car is an old decommisioned NYC taxi and therefore is a mikstake. |

As I said before, with that spotlight, it was an old police car and therefore could not have been used as a NYC taxi. |
