From elsewhere, but written by me: - The elderly Humber police car seems to be sporting a “TB” registration which is the County of Lancaster. My knowledge of police force boundaries of 1953 is not strong, but it would seem a fair assumption that this is the leading edge of a Royal motorcade, in the absence of the separate City of Liverpool force. The driver has two pips on his epaulette, suggesting that he is an Inspector, maybe the passenger in mufti is the Chief Constable, although it would be normal for that officer to be in uniform. Aintree was (pre 1974), located within Lancashire rather than “Merseyside”, which would support the Lancs plods doing the job. -- Last edit: 2023-02-28 09:12:59 |
