It's not unknown. It's a Batmobile with a ZZ3 Chevrolet racing engine from 1995. It dosen't need a maker:)

I believe most of the Batmobiles were built by George Barris (..or made by the engineers at the Barris custom shop.!)
Here is a picture of Barris with three Batmobiles.!

We could use "Barris" as make then?

At least the ones used in the Tim Burton movies cannot be associated with George. They were built in England. But what keeps us from asking George? He can be contacted via his webpage.

I was checking last night..but could not find who made the newer film batmobiles.!
I believe Barris could be used as a make ... as there is usually ..not too much of the original car left... to call it (..whatever..) the car was based on.!
Barris has made alot of the TV & Film cars ... lots of specials ..including the Munsters cars,Monkeemobile,Black beauty (Green Hornet) etc....
..and he even has his own Emblem ... (picture from http://www.barris.com/)

The Munster Koach and Dragula were actually outsourced by George, due to too many commitments for the movie industry at the time. They were therefore designed and built by none other than Tom Daniel, who never received the credit for them that he deserves. Ed 'Big Daddy' Roth submitted designs as well, which were actually made by his friend Ed Newton. They were rejected in favour of the Barris/Daniel effort.

I strongly disagree with calling the Batmobiles 'Barris', since he can only be credited with one for certain, the Lincoln Futura based '1966', for which the actual concept car was molested and therfore destroyed forever.

Who built the Batmobiles in the Tim Burton films? According to what I've heard from people actually working at the movie set, they were built in England on chassis found in local scrapyards, one a Chevy Caprice, one a Buick Riviera, by a team of people assigned to the job by the studios. Barris Customs was in no way involved in this, they most likely didn't even know about them until the movie was released.

Like with the Munster Koach and Dragula, George Barris never had a problem taking credit for other people's efforts.

Anyway, I did some further research on the Tim Burton Batmobiles and found out that they were designed by the late Anton Furst. He actualy received an Oscar for this effort. As I keep repeating here, they were built from scrap chassis by a team assigned to the job by the movie makers in England.

While there is no doubt that Barris should rightfully take credit for the original Batmobile and, from what I have read, the Munster Coach and Dragula, every other car that he claims to have made is in fact not made by him. For instance, he has taken credit for the Monkeemobile, Black Beauty (Green Hornet), the General Lee among others. He has also taken credit for the A-Team van which is most likely not correct either.

From what I've read, his name got associated with the MonkeeMobile because he restored it and supposedly made replicas as well. I'm guessing that's what has been going on with those other vehicles.
