OLA 194 awaits jfs legendary magic powers, but might have been a factory plate as OLA 196 is a Bentley twin (now living in US), |

It’s a Silver Dawn SSS, but the rear wing looks like it’s a MkVI body rather than an R-type. However OLA, County Council of London 10/53 to 1/56, so it is probably an R-type style despite appearances. Definitely the 4566cc engine, but as I am not a member of the RREC, I don’t have so much data. See Daimler picture, definitely big boot Silver Dawn. 1953+ -- Last edit: 2022-11-29 23:31:22 |

dsl, all the Rolls-Royce and Bentley factory plates that I know of are Cheshire, or Derby as the factories were located in Derby pre WW2, (post Cricklewood Bentleys of course) and Crewe. The OLA plates are probably from the same London agent. |

Ooops - should have checked - I was over-assuming on the basis of "Olga" (OLG 490) the Bentley Continental prototype, and the OLG series was Cheshire as almost the only non-London intruder in OLx series. Anyway OLA 194 was London Oct 53 to Jan 56 "allocated in blocks". |

OLG490 now belongs to a BDC Member in Australia, according to the current members’ list. Whether or not the number is still attached to Olga, I cannot be absolutely certain, but I would have thought that the importance of that unique vehicle, she is different from other Continentals, would have mitigated against any change. She belonged for many years to the late Stan Sedgwick, a past President of the BDC. -- Last edit: 2022-11-30 09:01:05 |

Nice looking Roller but what is behind it? -- Last edit: 2022-11-30 09:29:28 |

Never, ever a Roller, please. A Royce for sure! The car behind is almost surely a Lagonda 3-litre 2 door sports saloon, 1953-55. -- Last edit: 2022-11-30 09:38:42 |

I will now impress my neighbours by referring to their motor cars with the correct term....... Skoda And fine cars they are too . Actually I like these bits of info , so those in the know refer to them as a Royce ? -- Last edit: 2022-11-30 17:28:15 |

The history of the piece is that the first products were called Royce, as F H Royce had not yet gone into partnership with the Hon. C S Rolls. https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/213ec71a-3f5c-45f2-9088-c3a20a7c971d Royce had bought a Decauville car, and finding it unsatisfactory set about creating his own design. As far as goes the Skoda, my first acquaintance with the marque was being given the occasional lift into the village by the neighbour opposite, who had swapped his 105E Anglia for a brand new Octavia about the middle of 1962. The swing axle rear suspension looked a bit alarming when the car parked up, having been driven solo, but the owner was pleased enough with it. I have no problem with the modern ones either, if you can’t get a VW at a discount, why not have the same oily bits cheaper in a Skoda? -- Last edit: 2022-11-30 18:15:08 |
