Sorry, Ray B., you've been caught like I was at first glance ... this is a 1938 Ford Eight (7Y) that has acquired an Anglia grille. Note the wavy bumper.

I'm no specialist of british cars at all. I just have a few books and tried to use them. Still, could it be a 1939 Anglia ? Here is what one of them says of the 1939 Fords "...Ford Motor Company Ltd of Dagenham offered four series of cars, namely the Eight, Model 7Y (later in the year superseded by the Anglia, Model E04A)..."

No, this is an E04A Anglia: vehicle_171665-Ford-Anglia-E04A-1939.html Note the straight bumper and the flatter grille ... a 1940 E04A was the first car I remember my Dad owning in 1946. It had previously belonged to the Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Company, where it had had a tram dropped on it. As a result it was somewhat twisted, but in 1946 beggars couldn't be choosers ... :p
