Zafira in Venezuela?? |
◊ 2008-05-02 23:01 |
wikipedia: "Chevrolet Zafira - Latin America, Mexico, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines" edit: but that was for the A-version, this one is newer... on wikipedia they just say "Chevrolet Zafira - Mexico and Chile" re-edit: is it really a Zafira and/or a Chevrolet? the front looks strange, and this model is not on chevrolet.com.ve -- Last edit: 2008-05-02 23:05:09 |

Maybe it is sold as Opel then? |

That car really puzzles me. I agree that it looks like a Zafira B. But: - no Zafira B sold in Venezuela by Chevrolet, and Opel does not seem to exist on that market. - most logical would then be that the car comes from a neighborhood country... but in Brazil and Colombia Chevrolet still sells the Zafira A. Remains Guyana but there do not seem to be lots of sites from that country. |

Guyana drives on the left (it's a former British colony) so it can be ruled out. If it were an Opel Zafira from French Guyana, we'd be able to see the Opel badge. /vehicle_170090-Opel-Zafira.html The only other possibility then would be a Chevrolet Zafira visiting from Mexico. |

French Guyana is not very close. They do not have the Zafira on Chevrolet Mexico website. |

Why Chevrolet? I think we are trying to establish the make, the model is surely Zafira, it wasn't sold under any other name FWIK. |

It can be either Opel, Chevrolet or Vauxhall. It can also be Subaru Traviq. In Japan, the Zafira was sold as Subaru Traviq. In my opinion, it's Vauxhall or Chevrolet... |

Also no logo in the steering wheel. |

Without wishing to be rude, we know all that already. We're trying to narrow it down to the marque most likely to be seen in Venezuela, which is complicated by the fact that the Zafira B doesn't seem to be sold there. In any case, this particular car can't be a Vauxhall or Subaru because it's left hand drive. |

So this leaves us Chevrolet and Opel. Some South American countries still have the A model, others do not have it at all. But on Wikipedia they say that the B model was sold in Mexico and Chile but now discontinued in Mexico. So I suppose that it is more probably that the car came from one of these two countries rather than from Europe... though that all B models seems to have been made in Germany & Poland anyway. -- Last edit: 2008-05-05 16:13:46 |

Wikipedia is not always reliable. |

If you have a better suggestion to chose between Chevrolet and Opel, go ahead On ".ve" sites there are 38 references to Opel Zafira vs 9 for Chevrolet Zafira, that's still quite few to make a choice based on that either |

No no ... We can leave it this way, maybe in further episodes such cars are seen more. |
