Roesch-Talbot. Suspect AV 105, but it’s going to take some digging. |

Probably list as a Talbot. Designer was Georges Roesch if it’s what I think it is, but I need a bit more time. -- Last edit: 2022-10-09 17:05:33 |

I think that's the Talbot BI 105 corsica coupé 1937 (to check) One picture here, in blue : http://www.simoncars.co.uk/talbot/talbot105.html By the way, this website learn us : "Georges Roesch was chief engineer at Talbot before the takeover of the Sunbeam Talbot Darracq (STD) brand by the Rootes group [...] The French branch will produce the famous Talbot Lago while the English branch will be swallowed by Rootes." 1. The car carries the registration number AXY980, London, March 1934. 2. The coachwork is touring rather than sporting. 3. It carries a side mounted spare wheel which the Corsica body does not. |

Link to "www.handh.co.uk" I am not certain how to scale the subject picture, but have been able to find more 65 drophead coupés with side mounts than 105s, and the resemblance is notable. However, the design of the wings does not match the H&H car, but maybe we are getting closer. We can say, certainly, 1934 Talbot unknown. -- Last edit: 2022-10-10 09:47:29 |

Yes. The Talbot came from one of the directors of the original company, the Earl of Shrewsbury and Talbot. 1902 Clément-Talbot Ltd, Adolphe Clément and the Earl were two of the directors. Cars built at Levallois-Perret from 1899 were imported into UK by this firm. 1904 Assembly from French components. 1906 First all-British Talbot car. 1916 Georges Roesch became chief engineer, Swiss, had already worked for Grégoire, Delaunay-Belleville, Coventry Daimler and Renault. 1919 Taken over by Société Alexandre Darracq a British company which also bought Sunbeam, forming the Sunbeam-Talbot-Darracq Group, Chief Engineer Louis Coatalen. 1925 Nearly broke, entrusted saving the company to Roesch. 1926 Talbot 14/45, designed by Roesch, "dramatically revived Talbot's fortunes." 1934 Talbot reasonably successful, but Sunbeam and Darracq in Queer Street, letting in those automotive vultures, the Rootes Brothers. 1935 Part of Rootes Group. Roesch influence weakened as time passed, until the ultimate insult, the Sunbeam-Talbot 80. Talbot name revived in the 80s, after Peugeot-Citroën had acquired the wreckage that remained of the Rootes empire. Debt of gratitude by jfs to "The World Guide to Automobiles, the Makers and Their Marques" Nick Baldwin and Brian Laban. Guild Publishing 1987. -- Last edit: 2022-10-10 14:15:18 |

I have spent some time comparing the subject picture with YG7322, and I believe the subject to be a Talbot 65 with Carlton “Foursome” Coachwork. |
