1953 Special convertible by the trim (and it has lost his portholes, emblem, hood ornament...)

It's not a Special, it's a large Buick (Super or Roadmaster). The shape of the body isn't the same.

It seems that the front flashers/parking lights have been filled too... Weird.

Not sure what you mean by "shape of the body." It appears that the side contour dipped accordingly on the convertible Special:

Oh, Lord! I just noticed how that square rearview mirror is mounted vertically on the driver's door. Sheesh! :??:

And there wasn't all that much size difference between the various models.

Replaced to make it legal in Poland?

The vehicle is the property of the automotive museum in Otrębusy - see it here. It used to belong to the Polish communist prime minister Józef Cyrankiewicz, known for his rather lavish lifestyle, never-ending tenure and marriage to famous actress Nina Andrycz.

:D It is suprise for me that he had such car (is it original color?). I've heard, he was generally a big lover of Citroens (I'm curious what happend with his SM). In the 1960's he had an idea for the special sell of 2CV's to the Polish artists and make it same what Syrena was for the working class.

Given Mikiciuks' "prowess" in restoring cars, they might have also fumbled with the story, but I guess I've heard from some other source he had a Buick like that.

Did you ever see a 1953 Skylark? The rear wheel cutout is completely different.

58Roadmaster: I have the same picture in George Damman's "Seventy years of Buick" and it's identified as a Super, not a Special (and I believe he is right and GM Photostore is wrong). Here are pictures of 1953 Specials, and I believe that Philr is right: the fender dip goes much deeper in the Super and Roadmaster.
So, this ghastful Buick is logically a 1953 Super.
