This car, a Mercedes 300d, was the second Mercedes he bought in Germany, after his dad crashed the first, which was a 220 1958 model, Here is a rare colour photo of Elvis trying to evade his European fans, by going through the back of the house, It didnt work. Only one person in the world could be so politically correct and wealthy enough to own three German cars, a red VW a white BMW 507 and a black Mercedes 300d, let alone be so kind as to offer his European followers a daily ration of after work visitor hours. LOL. Link to "scontent-gua1-1.xx.fbcdn.net" -- Last edit: 2022-07-11 22:36:58 |

At various times I have owned a VW1200, 2 VW Golf 2.0 Tdi Variants, an Audi A4 Estate, and 2 Mercédès C class 220d Estates. Apart from the old Beetle, I also, concurrently, owned my Bentley during ownership of the others, and I did it without inflicting that awful whining, plunking caterwauling racket on my fellow men. How politically correct is that? -- Last edit: 2022-07-11 23:37:57 |

Not so correct, if you were in Britain, for what would be politically correct about having a fleet of German cars in Britain. LOL. What Elvis did was to have three cars made in the country he was stationed, in spite of being the most celebrated american of his time. And as far as the Bentley, here is what they are worth. None of them reaches the level of what his BMW 507 is worth. It is so valuable that BMW Classic declined a request from an entertainer whose wealth is estimated by Forbes, at US$678 million when he asked then to let him use it, chassis 70079, for two hours in`his TV program "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee". Jerry Seinfeld, egged on his face had to settle for its twin, chassis 70089 owned by Ron Gilmartin. Kindly go this page, which I have already set for Bentleys sold at auction in the past 10 years. i'm not sure what being politically correct ( or incorrect ) has to do with a car's provenance ... i'm canadian , have owned so far a car built in US ( Ford ), one built in Japan ( Mazda ) and currently one built in Mexico ( Nissan ) .. i mean, people mostly buy either what they want or what they can -- Last edit: 2022-07-12 03:51:39 |

We were talking about a person who is not like you, or I, or 99.99% of those people who have owned cars. This person owned cars made in mostly every part of the world, yet he only visited 4 other countries than his own. They were Canada, Bahamas, Germany and France. While his visits to France, Canada and the Bahamas were for some days here and some days there. he lived in Germany for 18 months at the time he was the most famous American, yet, he chose to have three German cars, one for himself, another one for his dad, and another for whoever in his house wanted to use it. I am the son and grand son of diplomats, and my dad, both of my two grandads and I never bought cars made in the 25 countries we were stationed. In other words, we were not politically correct but who cares because we were not the most celebrted persons in any of those countries. Presley was, so again, in his case, he was diplomatic enough, as a US soldier in the US occupied part of Germany, to own and drive three Germnan cars. That is all I was saying. -- Last edit: 2022-07-12 08:03:25 |

but they're probably more his choice rather than being politically correct .. i mean, if he didn't liked them, he wouldn't probably had bought them -- Last edit: 2022-07-12 08:00:53 |

When you have had as many Hillman Hunters as I have, a German car is a blessed relief. |

Elvis Presley had 11 cars in the 1956 to 1958 period, that is before he travelled to Germany. He had two Isettas, made by BMW, and a Messerschmitt, but his preference was always American cars, usually big ones. So he had four Cadillacs, three Lincolns, and a Mark II, none of which he sold, or gave away. The three German cars, he got rid off, gifting the three before being shipped to Germany. The only non american car he wanted to have as he left for Germnay was a Porsche, because he was James Dean's biggest fan. But he was also known to be a person who did not want to wait, as he had all his first 13 years, in total poverty, so he bought the BMW 507 not becuase that is what he liked, but because there were no Porsches availabkle on his arrival, and it was a German car. The Mercedes was ugly, but he got it for his dad, and a VW Beetle, in 1958, well, I am sure he didnt like it, but they all had something in common< in that they were all made in Germany. |
