Commer TS3 - not sure of the date, somewhere in the 1950s. TS is for Tillings-Stevens who did the engine, a three cylinder two stroke diesel of about 3.7 litres. They were very noisy.

This is also a Commer QX R-Series Mk.I (1948-51) and therefore too old for the TS3 engine.

The Mk.III first received the two-stroke three cylinder engine in 1954 and the series was renamed C-Series.

The TS3 engine is actually very smooth, the high pitched noise for which they were known was rather due to a less effective Burgess silencer and the Roots blower.

The engine came as a 3261cc (199ci) and 3523cc (215ci).
