Unknown vehicle role - i'd suggest this is 4 stars, it's used by the main character throughout the movie and in all his races. -- Last edit: 2010-05-13 07:12:07 |

Kids nowadays should seriously watch the final run in this thing at the end of the the film. It's like the Jan and Dean song. Always stuck with me since I was a kid myself. |

Am I the only one here that often prefer the typical VHS-rip quality (for old films) charm to the new DVD, and objectively better of course, remastered one? This always comes to my mind when replacing this kind of pics. This is the old main picture: Just for personal taste, as I generally like old stuff We'll keep looking for the best pictures quality possible, obviously. |

Harry Hamlin's character was inspired by Chris Banning, the actual "King of the Mountain" on Mulholland drive at the time the movie was made. His actual race car was a genuine 1973 Carrera RSR, silver painted, with a rather insane number of modifications, such as a 1974+ front and rear conversion, wide flares, a chopped top (!), and a suspension designed with the aid of Porsche engineers. Period photos of the real car are here: Link to "forums.pelicanparts.com" Banning is still alive and well, still lives just off Mulholland Drive, and still owns his Porsche. -- Last edit: 2017-12-09 21:10:35 |
