According to Italian and English wiki, the S 2.0 (late 1983-85) was only for Italian and French market (1038 examples), for export there were S 2.5 (1984-87) and ES 2.5 (1984-86, 1480 examples). The S 2.0 was replaced by the S II (Italy only, 1985-86) and Si (Italy only, 1986-87, 992 examples). I believe E-badged cars were US specs ones (since 1985MY)? So this one should be a 1984+ S with 2.5 engine for export. Also, all 1982-87 Biturbo coupé are [AM331]. -- Last edit: 2022-08-27 12:40:06 |

Same thing I've recently read in a book about Maserati. Seems that at some time Italy overtaxed cars with more than 2 litre displacement, this explains why also Mercedes and other manufacturers produced specific low-displacement versions of some models for Italy (for example, the early 200 Kompressor models) |

Yes, of course, this is a well-known fact .gif ":)") usually Portugal and Greece got those versions too.But, it's not an easy task cleaning Biturbos  as I understand, it was exported since 1983. no mention of a 2.5 S here^ or on the Italian Biturbo page https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maserati_Biturbo so maybe a mistake |

Yes, I saw the official page, indeed I was basing on that too, even if dates don't take into account MYs it seems anyway I thought that being an export version, the mistake it was in Italian wiki, but if the official site doesn't mention it..  So this one should be a 1984+ ES 2.5 |
