I'm pretty sure this one was driven by David Pearson. Yep, Pearson, and it is Montego GT. -- Last edit: 2008-02-29 11:18:21 |

Here is a link to a '73 GT. Notice that there is no window in the roof sail panel. http://grantorinosport.org/pics/73montegoGT05.jpg The last year for the Montego was 1976. For 1976, Mercury added a small window in the sail panel. Pearson was still racing Montegos as the Woods Brothers Purolator #21. The one in the photo appears to be a '76 with the window. It APPEARS to be a fastback, which was no longer made, because the red trunk is confused with the sail panel in the image. In this link, the so-called "1978 Montego" is not a fastback GT and has the window in the sail panel. This is the car in the image. Oddly, it appears that the racing team rotated the stock window. http://www.gt350h.com/pearson/pearson.html A stock 1976 Montego. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2796711180033923620CXmtIr |

The middle link (the most important one!) didn't work. Let's try this again. In this link, the so-called "1978 Montego" is not a fastback GT and has the window in the sail panel. This is the car in the image. Oddly, it appears that the racing team rotated the stock window. http://www.gt350h.com/pearson/pearson.html |
