GTU 55G was Oct 68 Cheshire plate from RR factory. The car is the Phantom VI prototype [PRH1500], originally built in 1967 as Phantom V 5VF83, then renumbered as a PVI. Used at first by RR Conduit St showroom in London for customer demos, then it apparently went for crash tests at MIRA. Which is a bit puzzling as it survived quite happily for later prestige appearances - eg Daniel Haughton, chairman of Lockheed arriving from London Airport for talks with Rolls-Royce and government officials on the Rolls-Royce RB211 engines, 17 February 1971, Princess Margaret used it in 1973 to visit Biddulph Grange (in jfscountry). Now a hotel courtesy car in St Moritz . Maybe the MIRA crash barriers crumpled instead of the car?? Unique ID feature for this one is apparently position of side indicator - further forward than usual PVI position. |
