I don't agrea with IMCDB, the exact name of this Alfa Romeo was Alfa Romeo "Alfa 33" |

This subject was discussed on other pages. The name was changed several times from Alfa Romeo Alfa 33 to Alfa Romeo 33 and vice-versa. The exact "car name" (not make/model) is "Alfa 33", which is made by Alfa Romeo. They do not seem to use the full name "Alfa Romeo Alfa 33" nor "Alfa Romeo 33" when mentioning the car. It is like for the (Land Rover) Range Rover, which is not often referenced as "Land Rover Range Rover" though that in car listings that name is used. -- Last edit: 2008-02-27 17:22:41 |

Then It would be normal to apply the same rule, which is correct. Make = Alfa Romeo Name of the model = Alfa 33 I'm not convinced at all that "Alfa Romeo 33" sounds more true than "Alfa Romeo Alfa 33" ...Most of time the use when speaking about this car is to call it as "Alfa 33" and never as "Alfa Romeo 33" ...in same time "Alfa 33" corresponds exactly to the name of the model... |

As Antoine says this has been discussed at length before. Models as currently listed on www.alfaromeo.com Alfa 147 Alfa GT Alfa 159 Alfa 159 Sportswagen Alfa Spider Alfa Brera Alfa 8c I maintain that 'Alfa Romeo' is the name of the car company (manufacturer) but the shortened form 'Alfa' is normally used for make when used with the model name (147 etc). However badges, literature and brochures vary depending what looks best at the time - car companies are seldom consistent. |

Isn't this almost the same discussion as Renault 5 / R5...? |
◊ 2008-02-27 23:09 |
no because I've never seen "R5" in any documentations or models of Renault 5 ... R5 was just a usual way of naming it by people ..sort of "nickname" Alfa 33 was really the name , badged as Alfa 33 ... and officially "commercial name" not a nickname as there are for others alfas listed by sunbar... Therefore I maintain this car is a "Alfa Romeo Alfa 33".... In the Alfa Romeo range , the 147, GT , Brera... are not officially named as "Alfa 147", "Alfa GT"... but as 147, GT, Brera... So "Alfa 33" naming case was different.. |

OK, I think you've got a point. So it be Alfa 33 (except for the old racing car Tipo 33 ) |

I personally do not care what is chosen, I just ask to stop changing every 6 months (these were renamed at least 3 or 4 times from one style to another) Some references to previous discussions: /vehicle.php?id=19633 /vehicle.php?id=15137 (note that this 33 is just badged as "33", unlike what sixcyl said ) /vehicle.php?id=59244 -- Last edit: 2008-02-28 00:09:48 |

Maybe do not care about the 'Alfa 33 naming', but about the pointless background vehicles in this movie... |

Well, indeed I care more about that, but what can I do? |

I think this car deserves a page, but many others do not... |

5-door hatchback, not sedan. |
