zodiac ◊ 2021-11-09 10:24	It's indeed the sound of a petrol engine. However I cannot differ between different Mercedes engines, so I leave it with that. Otherwise,the grille above was used for the smaller engines for a few years after the introduction of the /8. That could have meant a choice between 200, 200 D, 220 or 220 D. The /8 is a Mercedes code for cars introduced after January 1st 1968. That was an important date as U.S. legislation forced cars to have more safety equipment if sold over there. As the W114/W115 - was introduced that date as well, they have been known as /8, but Mercedes themselves meant the whole range of cars. Also /9 exist for cars made for MY 1969 where even more safety equipment was introduced, but that is less well known.
