Didn't the IZh have a sort of a fastback? Wouldn't this be a Moskvitch? |

Mike, I think IZh is to Moskvich as GAZ is to Volga: http://solutions.quintagroup.com/e-commerce/cars/izh-412-moskvitch/ ... you may be thinking of the IZh Moskvich-2141 Aleko, which resembled the Simca 1307/8/Chrysler Alpine ... Link to "upload.wikimedia.org" (Did the wine work? ) |

As far as I know IZh stands for the factory plant in Izhevsk, Ural. They made (at least) bikes and cars. The cars were copies of the Moskvitch 412, a van and a 5-door version (extraordinary ugly! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/uk/6/6f/Izh_combi.jpg ) of this proper 412 model. Only picture I'd ever seen was this 5-door fastback model, but I found that they did make the normal sedan as well. I guess IZh is to Moskvitch more like Seat was to Fiat: they produced a resticted range of the same models, and made some minor changes. (And yes, the wine did work... a bit too much ) -- Last edit: 2008-02-08 10:01:25 |

I guess the yellow car can be identified as IZh by the doorhandles. |

The IZh website has a visual guide (in Russian) to all their current and former models: http://www.izh-auto.ru/models/index.htm Currently they assemble three Kia models, the VAZ 21043 estate and a pickup. |

Not IZH, I think. It has Moskvitch 412 IE front part. I think, it's 1970 Moskvitch 412 IE with new doors. |
