R-type Standard Steel Saloon. The numberplate is a London issue, 1942-43, and is not recognised in my book. Nor does it return a membership of the Bentley Drivers Club. -- Last edit: 2021-04-24 16:54:31 |

This car does not, from the pictures here, seem to have been fitted with flashing indicators. The film is dated 1985, to my certain knowledge other drivers did not look for trafficators then, and even less now. My car has Lucas spotlights on the front, with yellow bulbs to convert them to indicators, and motor cycle indicators on stalks attached to the rear overriders. I would not drive a car like this on the motorway without some conversion, especially as the R-type can keep up with modern traffic speeds without difficulty. The R-type was produced from 1952 to 1955. -- Last edit: 2021-04-25 20:35:48 |

The seatbelts on my 1960 VW 1200 were Kangol Magnet type with some black plastic, so it’s not as anachronistic as you may think. https://sunbeamtigerparts.com/listing/nos-kangol-magnetic-seat-belts/ -- Last edit: 2022-01-31 08:44:28 |
