@walter: sorry, I don't agree.

Audi just took the name (or have stolen it) from a legendary car to let the sun shine on a modern lifestyle-car (which is technicially nothing more than a VW Golf, which has someone has smashed flat).

Audi never has loved or just liked the NSU-history, and before they have used the badge "TT" again, the always have tried to deny any relation.

And some NSU-freaks still do hate Audi and would never buy one. "Audi has destroyed us", it's a popular opinion.

I remember a scene of the NSU-meeting for the 125th anniversary in 1998 in Neckarsulm. When the photo of all cars was taken (a tradition), a 1977 two-door-Audi 100 L (in very good condition) stood in the background. After the photographer has said in his megaphone. "Could the Audi please been driven away to let just the NSU's on the pic?", there was a chorus of over 100 NSU-drivers, who have shouted "Audi weg! Audi weg! Audi weg!" ("Audi away", you can translate). p)

And before, when I arrived with my K 70, some retired NSU-workers came to me had have said -quite angrily- "Pull off that fucking VW-badge from you car! It's our child! VW has stolen our child!"

Same thing with Panhard and Citroën in France

I know a garage in my area who was Panhard and then became one of the first Toyota in France because he hated so much Citroën who bought Panhard and let die the oldest French car maker. Even today, some Panhardist are Citroën haters...

NSU was really a great innovative company. Germany lost great companies like Glas and Borgward too for mass produced car. Like most countries...

It is the same for some Simca/Talbot fans against Peugeot :D (I know at least one, but much less extreme than these examples that you gave)

Yes but NSU, like DKW, Horch and Wanderer are the Audi Tradition. Different names, but that's the Audi history :love:

A propos Audi-tradition:
@walter, as an Audi-freak, do you want to have a "Wanderer"-typewriter? :D

Ooh, this NSU got three stars, as "used in a car chase". I don't know this "Tatort"-episode, but isn't this the scene, where the bad guy escaped in this NSU and you can hear, how the chasing cops are saying "Forget it, we don't have any chance. It's a NSU TT!"
Some NSU-freaks had told me this scene years ago.

@Ralph: :hello:

P.S. @walter: the policemen, who couldn't catch the NSU, were driving the Audi 80. :p

180 km/h in a TT is actually one step from suicide :wow:

No, why? :??:
The suspension of a TT is not bad (of no four-cyl-NSU's at all). A Renault 8 Gordini or the Simca 1000 or a Simca 1200 Coupé are much more vicious, as a friend told me, who owned one of each.

When I had my 1200 C, I always have hold the 140 km/h on the Autobahn, even at wet weather. No problems with the yellow Koni's.

2012-04-20 19:05

There are more polite ways to express your opinion about that, Nightrider. ;)

Anyway, I know that some purists of these old brands wouldn't agree with this sentence I prevously wrote (three years ago actually), and of course I can understand their disagreement, but they also must admit that they wouldn't have survived, even without their fusion. At least, they have done a glorious end in a certain way.

Nightrider RU

2012-04-20 19:17

There is no such thing as "glorious end". Once they were exist, and now they don't. They can be saved as separate brands, after all. "Tradition" is just a word - they consume production facilites and that's all about "keeping tradition".

and Fiesta Mk1 wheels?

Ingo DE

2012-04-21 19:21

Hmm, Fiesta? I couldn't identify them. The first thought was pre-1977 Audi 80, but they aren't some. And no Lada-rims either (as in Cuba Link to "retrorides.proboards.com" ).
In every case it was a lot of work, because all measures, not only the bold circle are different. The easiest way would be Porsche-rims.

Well...purchased in 1998, runs good, body was overhauled, few parts are self-cobbled abd owner seems to not fully aware, what the car it is.)
