Sorry but what is this idea to write it as XJ [XJ40] ? Commercialy IT WAS "XJ40" even if this name is also corresponding to the name code THEREFORE we must enter XJ40 in the name and not only XJ ! |

Really? We started to use that as chassis code because it was said that XJ40 was only the project/code name for that generation... On that point I do not know if XJ40 was used as model name or not. Anyway even if it is the case, not all XJ40 carry the "XJ40" model-name: many XJ40 were sold as XJ6 and XJ12. We write XJ when the model cannot be determined... Do you identify this one as XJ40 rather than XJ6 or XJ12? -- Last edit: 2008-01-17 14:36:31 |

yes, these are generally marked as XJ40, but badges on the car were only XJ6 and XJ12. As long, as we can not decide wether this is a XJ6 or XJ12, we are using only XJ as model name. Most correct would be to use XJunknown [XJ40] |

As LondonItalian explained before http://forum.imcdb.org/forum_topic-2604-Jaguar_XJ12_XJ40.html , XJ40s with square headlights are Sovereigns and the XJ12 didn't come with square headlights, so it's an Sovereign. Unless someone swapped the headlights. -- Last edit: 2012-01-24 01:47:28 |

Please change year to 1990: Although KLD belongs to a 2014 Audi A1, we can see the car's rear with chrome around the lights, which indicates 1990 as the earliest possibility, according to dsl's XJ40 identification table: /vehicle_197035-Jaguar-XJR-XJ40-1991.html -- Last edit: 2017-02-23 23:36:44 (night cub) |
