Can't make out clear details to be definite about much, but here goes .... not an official chop. Wheels are not big enough to be 96+ Cooper with Sports Pack, and although racy/wider with arches, I'm not very convinced they're 12", so before 85 and not a Rover Mini Cooper. There were sporadic phases of bright yellow Minis during late 70s thru until the end, with one distinctive late 90s shade which at first I thought was a match until I realised smallness of wheels. As for who chopped it, very few pics found of German cabrios with hood up - L&H had a small side window like this and a rollbar, but lots of other German choppers eg Lamm, R&R KFZ (who also built the batch of 90 promotionals for Red Bull with giant drinks cans on the back), Mengers (who did anything they could think of to innocent Minis from ordinary cabrios to more deranged ideas such as speedsters, 4-doors, pickups with wooden trays on the back like Californian Beetles, and even amputated tricycles). So I haven't really got a clue, except to say that something early 80s on a Mini 1000 E (probably not a Mayfair as they were usually metallic), and L&H looks rightfrom a rare hood-up picture. My brain hurts now, so I'm going to lie down. |
