I don't known enough the true story but this is to show how difficult was the birth of EMBRAER in which the hero (Ozires Silva) was deeply involved (this short movie is produced by the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer to celebrate a key man in its history and later CEO of the company). Another point (real or not) shown by the movie is the use of computer only by night. Computer in Brazil during the 1960's were quite rare but it's untrue to show engineers working all night long to have access to such machine. Real time computing wasn't the rule and lasped time required by processing led to do work daylight, prepare calculation and so the night was use to process the calculation batches. Even in Europe, Soviet Union and North America. Even for Concorde, you can find easily pictures of engineers using slide rule ! |
